About the artist:

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was a renowned Austrian Symbolist painter and a leading figure in Vienna Secession, an Art Nouveau movement. Born into poverty, he trained at Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule für Kunst und Industrie. Initially controversial for his erotic art, Klimt rebelled by founding Vienna Secession.

Eventually, he gained recognition and became a professor in Munich and Vienna. Klimt's signature style featured symbolism, eroticism, and exquisite decorativeness, with a focus on women and a deep sense of color.

He drew inspiration from Jan Toorop and influenced artists like Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka. His works, including "The Kiss" and "The Tree of Life," showcased his mastery of gold and remain highly praised.
